WORK IN PROGRESS

The main objective of this project is to contribute to retaining the significance of the Palestinian cultural heritage by defining a coherent preservation strategy, adequate to the local context, and responding to the needs of its inhabitants.

Such a strategy lies on the conservation and management planning of the cultural assets of the Municipalities of Bethlehem, Beit Sahour and Beit Jala.

The project will use an approach by which the capacity of local authorities to plan and implement regulations to preserve and protect cultural heritage and to supervise the rehabilitation of the historic sites of the Bethlehem area will be substantially developed. As a result, the project will produce a conservation and management plan for the historic centres of the large Bethlehem area and related features as cultural landscapes encompassed by the urban areas.

The project will also contribute to supporting the compatible economical activities within the area, with the aim of revitalizing missing content
